AEi Systems Announces Worst Case Circuit Analysis Seminars

Critical Training on the Principles and Practical Aspects of WCCA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – February 10, 2004 – AEi Systems, LLC, a recognized leader in worst case, failure and reliability analysis services, today announced the availability of a tutorial course covering worst case circuit analysis (“WCCA”).

AEi Systems’ special one and two-day courses provide analog and digital design and test engineers and managers with the fundamental skills required to perform a WCCA. Seminar participants learn the importance of WCCA and the different methodologies and analytical approaches that can be applied. Program topics include WCCA structures and methods, component tolerances and design concerns, accounting for Select At Test’s (SAT’s), the Ahrennius aging model, stress and derating analysis, and common analysis errors. Detailed and complete examples of the proper documentation format for communicating results of a WCCA are introduced to participants, and basic tolerance studies, their evaluation, and the maintenance of a global tolerance database are presented for most common electronic components. In addition, the seminar introduces a structure for sharing methods and results between engineers that minimizes the effort required to perform the analysis.

Worst Case Circuit Analysis is an integral part of a proper analog and digital circuit design process. WCCA is a cost-effective means for circuit designers and customers to screen a circuit design for potential defects and deficiencies and to make appropriate changes during the design phase and at other junctures well in advance of actual production. WCCA is also appropriate during other phases of product life, including the testing, production, delivery and post-delivery support phases.

When a WCCA program is performed properly, the results can save companies millions of dollars in lost revenue and dramatically lessen the possibility of human, monetary and political disasters. The typical cost of performing a rigorous WCA is less than 1% of the program cost. The cost of not doing the WCCA can equal 100% of the program cost. For all the foregoing reasons, WCCA should not be an “after-the-fact” exercise.

WCCA seminars may be tailored to address a customer’s individual needs. Additionally, a “hands on” workshop for smaller groups is available. The course instructor is Steve Sandler, founder and principal engineer of AEi Systems.
